Amnesty lambasts states for rejecting UN refugee plan

Rights group Amnesty International has accused national leaders of failing to "bear the weight of responsibility" after they finalised a watered-down outcome document for adoption at a UN refugee summit on 19 September. The document failed to include a UN-backed pledge to move one in 10 refugees to the developed world. Over 20 million people worldwide are currently forced to flee from conflict, violence and persecution.

Italian central banker Piero Cipollone in his first monetary policy speech since joining the ECB's board in November, said that the bank should be ready to "swiftly dial back our restrictive monetary policy stance."
