Police probe Hungarian news agency after Orban stories

A Hungarian online news agency is being investigated by police after it published reports that revealed transport minister Laszlo Taso omitted details in his parliamentary declaration of interests. Other articles published by Direkt36 exposed gaps in declarations by prime minister Viktor Orban. The police are investigating allegations of harassment of Taso. Direkt36 is a partner of the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project.

EU fines Google €2.4 bn over online shopping

Brussels says Google has abused a near-monopoly position in online searches to favour its shopping service, but the US company said Brussels cannot prove the charges.
