Deutsche Boerse and LSE request EU merger approval

Deutsche Boerse and the London Stock Exchange Group have submitted their €25.6 billion merger deal to EU competition regulators ahead of a 28 September deadline for a preliminary review, Reuters reported Thursday. The deal would create the world's biggest exchange by revenue, but is facing tough scrutiny because of their large presence in derivatives clearing. Regulators might ask the exchanges to sell overlapping businesses after the 5-month inquiry.
