Greeks paid €1bn more in taxes in June

In June, Greeks paid €3.59 billion in taxes, which is €1 billion more than in June 2015, a government report said according to Greek newspaper Kathimerini. The increase was mainly due to higher VAT prices and a hike in income tax. However, the newspaper reported that revenue from tax evasion fines remained low. Higher taxes were a prerequisite for Greece from its international lenders.
