Turkey: EU should have sent top officials after coup
By EUobserver
It was unacceptable that European states had not sent high-level officials to visit Turkey since a failed coup attempt, Turkey's presidential spokesman, Ibrahim Kalin said on Wednesday. EU states have urged Ankara to excercise restraint over the crackdown of alleged perpetrators of the putsch, straining ties further. The spokesman's comment comes as EP president Martin Schulz and migration commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos are to visit Turkey on Thursday.
