EU mocks commissioner-turned-lobbyist on Apple ruling

EU commission spokesman Schinas refuted Friday former digital commissioner Kroes's criticism of the decision that Apple must pay Ireland €13bn in taxes. “We understand that it may be sometimes challenging to reconcile the role as a former commissioner with the temptation to publicly express the views of those in Silicon Valley or elsewhere who oppose the commission's decisions." Since leaving office, Kroes has started working for US tech companies.

EU leaders adopted the bloc's guidelines for the UK exit negotiations that will start in June, amid concerns that France could elect a president that would try to take it out of the EU.
