Italy's largest union calls for No vote in referendum

Cgil, Italy's largest trade union, has called its members to vote no at referendum on constitutional reform later this year. Cgil's position is a blow to centre-left prime minister Matteo Renzi, who said he would quit if his reform proposal was rejected by voters. The reform is designed to reduce the powers of the Senate and stabilise political majorities. The vote will be held between 15 November and 5 December.
