Tusk will ask EU leaders to help Bulgaria on migration

EU Council president Donald Tusk will ask EU leaders next week in Bratislava to send guards and equipment to Bulgaria to help protect its border with Turkey against migrants. "In Bratislava I would like to see a critical number of member states sending border guards and equipment to help Bulgaria," Tusk said Friday in Stockholm. Bulgaria said it feared a new influx if the migration deal with Turkey collapses.

Journalists on trial highlight Turkey crackdown

The trial, which opened Monday, of 17 journalists and administrative employees of the daily newspaper Cumhuriyet is considered one of the most important episodes in a systematic campaign to silence dissent.
