King formally appointed as new EU commissioner

EU member states on Monday formally appointed Julian King as the new British EU commissioner. King will serve as security union commissioner until 31 October 2019, replacing Jonathan Hill, who resigned after the Brexit vote. King had been endorsed by the EU parliament on 15 September.
