Turkey to extend state of emergency
By EUobserver
Turkey intends to extend the three-month state of emergency introduced after the 15 July failed coup. The national security council said on Wednesday that the extension would "ensure the protection of our democracy, rule of law, rights and freedoms of our citizens". The measure has allowed authorities to investigate about 70,000 people, including 32,000 still in custody, according to the justice ministry.
