German top court gives green light to Ceta ratification

Germany's constitutional court ruled on Thursday that the EU-Canada trade agreement Ceta can enter into force provisionally after approval by the EU Council. Activist groups had argued that Ceta must first be voted on by MPs or it would breach the constitution by excluding citizens from decision-making. But the court said Germany should retain a right to pull out of the agreement.
