EU wants VW recall guarantees

The European Commission wants Volkswagen Group to improve its action plan to fix diesel cars equipped with cheating software, an EU source told EUobserver. The source said VW needed to guarantee "in a legally binding way and without any time limit, that the repairs will work and do not have any negative impact". The Commission also wants evidence that VW's timetable is reliable, and to "take steps towards voluntary compensation".
