Turkish asylum applications to Germany double since coup

Germany has received 4,437 asylum applications from Turkish citizens, 2.5 times the amount of applications received from Turkish citizens in all of 2015, between January and October, according to a report by the Funke Mediengruppe papers. Turkey has cracked down on potential opposition since a failed coup in July. Tens of thousands have been suspended, sacked, or arrested due to supposed connections to the coup.
