Finland mulls ban on coal-fired power plants
Finland could become the first EU country to ditch coal-fired power plants. In a new energy and climate strategy due to be announced on Friday the government considers banning the burning of coal for energy by 2030. "Giving up coal is the only way to reach international climate goals," minister of economic affairs, Olli Rehn, has said. Canada announced on Monday that it would phase out traditional coal by 2030.
