EPP chooses Tajani as candidate for president
The centre-right EPP group on Tuesday chose Italian MEP Antonio Tajani to be its candidate for the post of European Parliament president. After Tajani won most of the votes in the first round, the other candidates withdrew. Tajani, 63, has been an MEP since 1994. He was EU commissioner in charge of transport and industry, as well as Silvio Berlusconi's spokesman.
