No talks on EU plan for complex financial products in 2016

Member states and MEPs will not start talks on new rules to promote securitisation - a controversial family of financial products - before the end of this year, a Slovak presidency source told EUobserver. Last week MEPs agreed a common position and member states adopted their position last year. Such complex products, which involve packaging loans and selling off the risk, helped to cause the 2008 financial crisis.
