Merger of London and Berlin stock exchanges in doubt

A merger of the London Stock Exchange (LSE) and Deutsche Boerse could collapse after the EU commission ordered LSE to sell a 60 percent stake of its trading platform MTS to meet antitrust concerns over the merger of Europe's two largest market operators. "Based on the commission's current position, LSE believes that the commission is unlikely to provide clearance for the merger," LSE said in a statement on Sunday.
