Berlin rebuffs Trump idea for bilateral trade talks

Germany has refuted suggestions by the Trump administration to hold bilateral trade talks between Washington and Berlin. “Trade policy is the responsibility of the European Union,” a spokesperson for the German economy ministry told its US counterparts, Spiegel reported on Tuesday. In 2016 Germany exported €253 billion more to the US than it imported.
