Germany seeks partial burka ban
By EUobserver
The lower house of Germany's parliament on Thursday voted in favour of a partial ban on the full-face Islamic veil, the burka. It means people working for the state, such as civil servants or judges, won't be allowed to wear the burka at work. The bill needs approval from the upper house before it becomes law. Critics say only a few people wear the burka in Germany.
