EU closes deficit procedures for Portugal and Croatia

EU finance ministers on Friday closed excessive deficit procedures for Portugal and Croatia, after the two countries reduced their deficit under 3 percent of GDP. The procedures had been opened in December 2009 for Portugal and in January 2014 for Croatia. Four countries - France, Greece, Spain and the UK - remain under the procedure, down from 24 countries in 2010-11.
