Ireland and Denmark outside EU military plan
By EUobserver
Ireland and Denmark are not likely to join a new pan-EU defence scheme, pushed by Germany and France at Thursday's EU summit. Irish PM Leo Varadkar said that "Ireland’s position on neutrality is longstanding" but was open for co-operation to prevent cyber attacks, manage migration, and stand against terrorism. Denmark is currently prevented from investing in EU security due to an old opt-out from EU defence and security policies.
