Merkel and Macron hold symbolic joint press conference

German chancellor Angela Merkel and French president Emmanuel Macron held a joint press conference at the end of the two-day EU summit on Friday, emphasising the restart of Franco-German leadership in EU integration. "When France and Germany speak with one voice, Europe can move forward. Sometimes it is not enough, but it is a necessary condition. [...] It is more than a symbol, it is a work ethic," Macron said.
