MEPs call for EU-wide protection of whistleblowers

The European Parliament's legal affairs committee on Monday voted in favour of a report calling for EU-wide legislation to protect whistleblowers in Europe. The report, approved by 17 votes to 1, with 5 abstentions, calls on the European Commission to come forward with new legislation to achieve this by the end of the year. The full house is expected to vote on the draft text at the second October session.
