Cyprus blocks Russian action against rights activist

Russia's foreign ministry has said Cyprus has denied entry to Russian investigators looking for damaging information on Bill Browder, a British businessman-turned-activist who inspired US sanctions on Russian human rights abusers. "Such actions by our Cypriot partners stand in stark contrast to the standards and nature of our bilateral interstate relations," it said. Several EU states had already blocked similar Russian requests on grounds they were a "politically motivated" attack.
