EU states pledge 24,000 resettlement places so far

Twelve EU states have so far pledged 24,000 resettlement places for refugees as of Tuesday (17 October). The EU commission wants EU states to resettle 50,000 people by 2019. The pledging states are Belgium, Finland, France, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and UK.
