Dutch PM: Catalan crisis is not a European issue

Dutch prime minister Mark Rutte said on arrival at the EU summit in Brussels on Thursday that the political crisis over Catalonia is "not a European issue, [but] really a Spanish issue", until Spain asks the EU to mediate. Rutte told journalists it would be "inappropriate" for him to comment on how his colleague Mariano Rajoy has handled the crisis. "I wouldn't like him to comment on internal Dutch matters."
