Lithuania calls for new EU energy laws

Lithuanian president Dalia Grybauskaite said on Friday in Brussels the bloc should adopt new legislation to clarify whether non-EU states that build pipelines to the EU must abide by its energy market rules. She said the lack of clarity has prompted a legal "battle" between EU Council and European Commission lawyers on which rules applied to Russia's Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, which she described as a "geopolitical" issue.
