MEPs back new border control system
By EUobserver
The European Parliament on Wednesday backed the so-called entry/exit system to cross check the identity of people with various databases. The system, which aims to be launched in 2020, is geared towards registering all non-EU travellers throughout the passport-free Schengen area. Supporters say it will help detect terrorists and criminals using fake IDs. Others say it will result in unlawful mass data collection and deportations.
