Gavin Williamson named as new UK defence minister

Gavin Williamson was appointed on Thursday as the new UK defence secretary by prime minister Theresa May, replacing Michael Fallon, who resigned over sexual harassment allegations. Williamson, 41, was until now the Conservative Party's chief whip in the House of Commons, and as such a close ally of May.

Among the largest sources of financing for energy transition of central and eastern European countries, the €60bn Modernisation Fund remains far from the public eye. And perhaps that's one reason it is often used for financing fossil gas projects.
