Russia approves new rules targeting foreign media

Russia's lower house of parliament gave preliminary approval on Wednesday for authorities to brand any international media organisation working in Russia a "foreign agent" required to disclose where they get their funding from and how they spend it. The new legislation passed the Duma with a 414-0 vote, The Moscow Times reported. President Vladimir Putin is expected to sign the amendments into law by the end of the month.
