Work with Israel, Egypt on gas exploration, says Commission

The European Commission said Friday in an annex to its State of the Energy Union report that it is "in the EU's interest to assist" EU-member Cyprus, plus Egypt and Israel, "in better exploiting" recently-discovered natural gas fields. It said these discoveries "have raised the profile of the region as a gas producer and exporter". The EU should "develop mutually beneficial commercial cooperation".
