Increased EU funding causes problems for Dutch universities
By EUobserver
Dutch universities received almost €1.8bn in EU funding in 2016, Dutch research institute Rathenau said in a report sent Thursday to the Dutch parliament. The amount had increased 72 percent compared to 2008, leading to concerns over unintended consequences. EU funds need to be matched by own contributions, which can lead to universities prioritising research over education funding.
