Assange loses appeal against warrant

Whistleblower and Wikileaks founder Julian Assange lost his appeal against a UK arrest warrant. A British judge ruled on Tuesday that it was "certainly not against the public interest" to arrest Assange for violating bail. Assange has been in the Ecuadorian embassy in London since 2012, to avoid arrest over sexual assault charges in Sweden.

Italian central banker Piero Cipollone in his first monetary policy speech since joining the ECB's board in November, said that the bank should be ready to "swiftly dial back our restrictive monetary policy stance."
