Slovak compromise tabled to secure yes to euro fund

Slovakia’s Freedom and Solidarity party has tabled a compromise with its three partners in the ruling coalition to secure a majority for the euro rescue fund. The deal would see a special committee set up in Slovakia deciding on any disbursement of funds from the European Financial Stability Facility.

Among the largest sources of financing for energy transition of central and eastern European countries, the €60bn Modernisation Fund remains far from the public eye. And perhaps that's one reason it is often used for financing fossil gas projects.
