EU nations target Iceland for over-fishing

Iceland and the Faroe Islands are facing possible sanctions for catching too many mackerel. France, Portugal and Spain, Ireland asked the European Commission to explore trade sanctions against the two. The Commission estimates the mackerel catch for 2012 to be 36 percent above the sustainable limit.

EU Modernisation Fund: an open door for fossil gas in Romania

Among the largest sources of financing for energy transition of central and eastern European countries, the €60bn Modernisation Fund remains far from the public eye. And perhaps that's one reason it is often used for financing fossil gas projects.
