EU foreign ministers meeting today (3 October) in Luxembourg are set to impose an arms embargo on Uzbekistan and cut financial support for the central-Asian republic.
The move is to be taken in response to the continued refusal by the Uzbek authorities to allow an independent international inquiry into a violent suppression of an uprising in Andijan, near the Kyrgyz border, on 13 May.
