Cyprus rejects UK-French deal over Turkey talks

The Cypriot government said on Tuesday (13 September) that it cannot accept a UK-French deal on an EU counter-declaration on Cyprus, meant to pave the way for accession talks with Turkey.

A Cypriot spokesman told the EUobserver today (13 September) that the UK-French deal agreed last weekend is "not satisfactory" adding that Cyprus had "not been implicated" in the compromise.

The draft counter-declaration is set to be tabled on Wednesday at an EU ambassadors' meeting in Brussel...
