MEPs set to back EU shift to green car tax

MEPs are set to voice their support for the European Commission's proposal to scrap taxation on car registration and replace it by a tax calculated according to the pollution that individual vehicles produce.

The European Parliament will debate a report by Danish liberal MEP Karin Riis-Jorgensen backing the move at a Strasbourg plenary on Monday (4 September) and are expected to vote in favor by a broad majority on Tuesday.
