A re-run of the recent election in Romania now looks unlikely as the country’s Electoral Commission has voted against the idea by 21 votes to five.
The opposition had claimed that the elections last Sunday were tainted by fraud and called for a repeat of the vote.
Final results for the Parliamentary elections showed the incumbent Social Democrat party gained 36.6 percent of the vote, with the opposition Justice and Truth Alliance behind with 31.3 percent.
