Bulgaria and Romania to sign accession deal today

Bulgaria and Romania will today take their last step on the road to EU accession with the signature of their Accession Treaties.

Full membership of the club will follow on 1 January 2007, if the countries live up to their reform promises.\n\t\nThe entry of the two former communist states will add some 30 million citizens to the EU’s current 454 million, and extend the Union’s borders to Moldova and the Black Sea.
