Panic is spreading in Europe as tests results from Turkish birds released on Thursday confirmed that the bird flu virus found in Turkey is in fact the H5N1 virus which has killed over 60 people in Asia.
Health commissioner Markos Kyprianou on Thursday (13 October) confirmed the findings on the basis of fresh EU test results.
The test had been conducted by the Community Reference Laboratory for Avian Influenza Weybridge in the UK.
