Brussels to hand out millions to France after riots

The European Commission has offered €50 million of EU aid to help France recover from over two weeks of rioting, while signalling that up to €1 billion could be made available in the long term Le Monde says.

The violent oubreaks by youngsters from impoverished suburbs of major French cities are seen as the worst social unrest in the country for 40 years, causing concern across Europe about potential spread to other countries.
