UK's EU budget proposal to urge spending cuts

Details of the UK presidency's EU budget proposals are beginning to leak from Westminster, sketching out a reduction in overall spending compared to the Luxembourg presidency's ideas in June.

An EU official told EUobserver that London’s negotiating box, which will serve as a basis for EU leaders' talks on 16 December, will cap spending commitments at 1.03 percent of EU gross income.
