US foreign secretary Condoleezza Rice, who will visit Europe this week, is expected to offer a firm riposte to allegations that America's Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is engaged in unlawful practices against terror suspects in Europe.
Ms Rice will on Tuesday (6 December) arrive in Germany, and continue her trip to Romania and Ukraine, while attending a NATO meeting in Brussels on Thursday.
