MEPs to launch special CIA prisons investigation

The European Parliament decided on Thursday (15 December) to set up a temporary committee to investigate allegations of CIA illegal "extraordinary rendition" and European governments' complicity.

Earlier this week a Council of Europe report found such allegations credible, indicating that the US intelligence agency - the CIA - has detained suspected Islamic terrorists without proper judicial procedure, and possibly violated sovereignty laws in Europe.
