EU justice ministers on Friday (28 April) approved a commission proposal aimed at defining which national law applies in cross-border disputes involving individuals or companies from different countries, including non-EU states.
Under the new rules, the law in the country where the alleged damage occurred will govern the case, which may have implications for ongoing court cases involving Estonian and Latvian companies.
