A group of MEPs in Brussels are calling for Iran to be banned from the football World Cup finals this summer because of controversial remarks by the country's president.
Next week, MEPs are to send a letter to the president of world football body FIFA, Sepp Blatter, urging him to take action in the light of Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's calls for the destruction of Israel, denial of the Holocaust and refusal to halt his country's nuclear activity.
