Pragmatic Vienna exits downbeat EU political stage

An unassuming Austrian presidency draws to a close this week having presided over an EU whose major powers were concentrated on domestic politics.

The six-month stint at the helm of the 25-nation bloc, which comes to an end on Friday (30 June), saw some major achievements for Vienna including a final deal on the financing of the EU from 2007-2013.
