Polish prime minister Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz is set to formally hand over power to Jaroslaw Kaczynski today (10 July), after a surprise resignation marking the latest in a series of turbulent events in Polish politics.
Mr Kaczynski - the ruling Law and Justice party chairman - forced Mr Marcinkiewicz to go for undermining some of his favourite ministers and holding secret meetings with the Civic Platform opposition party, Polish media speculate.
