General eyes 'European army' after Congo mission

After its mission overseeing elections in Congo, EU troops are well on their way to being able to work as a common EU army, according to their French general.

"I am very satisfied because I believe that we have a very well-functioning unit," said general Christian Damay on Thursday in Kinshasa, according to Reuters.

"Now we really have the beginning of a European army."
